Came across this image at the Dallas Public Library. It's from a 1939 yearbook and shows the front entrance hall at old Dallas High School/Crozier Tech. The statue is Athena, the Roman goddess of Wisdom. This particular statue is a copy of one at the Vatican. Unfortunately, the statue at DalHi is no longer there.

Unfortunately, when Athena left, she apparently took the decorative plaster ceiling with her. It is now an unadorned, shallow vault that looks to have been in place for some time. Nothing like a good "updating" project.

Good find. I noticed the blank pedestal on a recent visit to the building; I wonder where Athena wandered off to. The ceiling decoration shown in that photo is very nice as well!
